Croix de Pierre project establishes a sensitive dialogue between heritage and contemporary architecture. Rather than competing with the existing character, every architectural intervention is conceived reveal it, bringing forward the spatial qualities and ornamental richness of the apartment. A continuous industrial floor, deliberately expressed through its raw materiality and understated character, provides a restrained counterpoint to the original moldings, proportions, and finely crafted details. A muted seafoam green defines the bathroom as a singular, immersive space, responding to the brick-red floor that runs throughout the project. This chromatic dialogue, built around two complementary colours, accompanies the different sequences of the apartment while reinforcing its overall identity. Throughout the project, recurring spherical forms, expressed through the architectural hardware, light fittings, and bespoke details, introduce a quiet softness that tempers the rigor of the contemporary intervention. These elements gently mediate the transition between classical ornament and a more restrained architectural language. Contrast is never used as a principle of opposition, but as a means of revelation. By bringing materials, colours, and historical layers into dialogue, the project seeks to give greater presence, clarity, and meaning to every architectural element.
